The conversion in the Eucharist of the whole substance of the bread into the body and of the wine into the blood of Christ, only the appearances (and other ‘accidents’) of bread and wine remaining: according to the doctrine of the Roman Catholic Church.
The Goldfinch
If there is one book on my shelf that I cannot help myself coming back to now and again, it’s Donna Tartt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Goldfinch. Not just a book which references a beautiful work of art – but a beautiful work of art itself – a true masterpiece of literary fiction.
