If Words Were Wings

If words were wings
I'd leave today
fly through the storms
and ocean sprays
soar over dawn
and through dazzling rays
of a never setting sun.
No time to stop
or think, just fly
no want or need
no pain or pride,
just onward speed
on pure joy I'd glide
straight towards the heavens.
As dreams reveal
journeys unplanned
no sorrow to feel
or wishes to land
forever I could fly
with this pen in my hand
if only words were wings.
